Various reserves, preserves, parks, etc. as of November 2023. Reserve boundaries are generally based off of the County's tax map key (TMK) layer. Kauai County TMK 2012, Maui County TMK 2016, Honolulu and Hawaii Counties 2020. Since boundaries from other agencies are derived from different source scales, these boundaries are modified to match the TMK layer with exceptions. Purpose:
Centralized location of managed lands protecting natural and cultural resources of the Main Hawaiian Islands.
Note: In some cases, differences in the acreage calculated by the GIS and the acreage listed in county real property records may exist. This can be especially evident in large parcels in remote areas, and is often a result of the difficulty in surveying the steep, overgrown terrain found in these natural areas.
